What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese art and practice that supports healing and personal development. The word Reiki roughly translates to “spiritual energy”. The system of Reiki as traditionally taught, involves practices aimed to develop your perception and capacity for spiritual energy.
The most popular and recognizable aspect of modern Reiki practice involves hand healing techniques known as a Reiki treatment. In a Reiki treatment, practitioners are traditionally understood to balance the “Ki” or subtle energies of an individual upon making contact with their hands.
With balanced Ki, the clients experience a state of harmony which in turn triggers the natural healing response of the individual. As such, Reiki not only affects the physical body, but the emotional, social, and mental processes as well.
For deeper, continued, and more meaningful healing, clients are encouraged to become Reiki practitioners. Many of Mikao Usui’s clients were treated this way, as Usui himself made no distinction between the two. Practicing the system of Reiki offers you a wider variety of tools to encourage the healing and harmony experienced in a treatment, as well as a stronger connection to life throughout day to day moments.
